Kelantan women to cover up or get fine

Dec 06, 2006 in Philosophy, Funny, Mumblings

Pui!!! That was my reaction after reading the news on “No Sexy Dressing“.
Sexy Girl

Seriously, what are guys at The Kota Baru Municipal Council (MPKB) thinking? How can you put the responsible to woman when they get rape because of “indecent dressing”. So I guess now enforcers in Kelantan will be spending more time checking out girls dressing indecently rather than reducing crime.

I would like to congratulate MPKB for their entry to Malaysia’s Book of Records under the category: “Most Sohai Law“.

I hope the people who proposed and supported this law to stay WHERE they are. Don’t go Miami Beach, anywhere near Thailand, the streets of Brazil or even Perhentian right here in Malaysia. Why? Because they won’t be able to control themselves and start raping those girls who are dressing what they want. Having this law is like telling the world Malaysian man can’t handle the heat. And 2007 is suppose to be Visit Malaysia Year. Will any woman dares visit a country with man who rape because how a woman dress?

Luckily right here in Petaling Jaya, we have a more mature society. Women organizations are outrage.

Can you guys imagine, immature and ridiculous guys in this PAS-led government (current Kelantan government) introducing this kinda law? the same people who wants to run this country? How can they lead this country and face the world if they can’t even control their testosterone?

61 years ago in Japan

Aug 06, 2006 in Philosophy

Exactly 61 years ago, the world’s first atomic bomb was drop into the city of Hiroshima.

Atomic Bomb Dome

After that, warfare is never the same again.

I visited Hiroshima back in year 2000 during my youth exchange program sponsored by the Lions Club. I saw the Atomic Bomb Dome (picture above), visited the museum which showcase the aftermath of the atomic bomb and sneaked out with some mates at night to see the night life. The photos in the museum are vastly different then the photos those Japanese pimps pass to us during our night out. I very much prefer the photos from the pimps. But let us not forget the horrors nuclear weapons will bring and remind ourselves that war isn’t an option during a conflict.

MindValley in Malaysia

Aug 06, 2006 in Philosophy, Fun

Ok, it’s 5:33 am but I have to blog this before I hit the bed.

I was surfing like usual and this caught my attention…. not for a couple of minutes, but for the pass 3 hours I think.

This company looks fun and have an International team. I never thought I would write a cover letter ever again… but I got this feeling that… I will learn something very useful at MindValley. How often can you find an American IT start-up right here in Malaysia? not often… down right rare. I think the first question I would ask them is… why Malaysia? why not…. India? or China? I think Malaysian would appreciate the answer.

Patent… evil or good?

Aug 04, 2006 in Philosophy

I was thinking to develop a social network site for quite some time now and for the pass few weeks I was debugging… fixing… a social network site for a client. I didnt develop it ground up, just took over it from a loser who didn’t finish what he started. While doing my research on social networking, I came across news about Friendster’s Social Network patent! It looks like just about anything can be patent….

IMHO, patent is… EVIL. It really limits innovation. The patent was granted by the U.S patent office, can Friendster sue me if I am residing in Malaysia? =) Are there any way to be innovative without restrictions? Patent on software especially, should be abolished. hmm… I am writing funny… maybe it’s something to do with the time being 5am….

Israel attacks Lebanon, creating hatred and pain…

Jul 23, 2006 in Philosophy, Lebanon, Israel

Israel may say they are doing surgical strikes all they want, actions speak louder than words. They shouldn’t be targeting essential infrastructure (power, roads, TV/Radio stations) which thousands of Lebanese are depending on in critical time like this. Destroying those infrastructure may deter Hezbollah but it is torturous for civilians. Saying Hezbollah hiding within civilian populations doesn’t justify Israel’s actions. War… never changes. It only creates generations of hatred and pain….

Israel war on Lebanon

I personally know two Lebanese while I was working at a Italian restaurant in UK. I was pursuing my degree and was working there during the summer holidays. They are beautiful looking girls I must say, and fun to work with.

*They were students like me.*

*They are civilians like me.*

*They are just as human as me.*

The people who are and will suffer the most are people like them. Not Hezbollah. After this war Hezbollah may be gone but this will not make the middle east especially Israel a safer place. This war will only create generations of hatred and pain not only within Lebanon, Israel as well.

Laptop stolen right under her nose

Jul 07, 2006 in Philosophy, Tips

Take a look at this video I found at metacafe. It is a footage from the company’s CCTV. Hope we will be able to proactively reduce this kind of crime. The data in laptops are soooooooo important! So, do backup your data on a desktop machine or your company’s file server… maybe GMail as well.

Racial Discrimination in Malaysia

I was searching for statistic regarding number of pupils in Malaysia schools but found this link about racial discrimination in Malaysia instead. I don’t know the accuracy of the report but here is the link anyway.

The price of mineral water

Jun 24, 2006 in Philosophy, Money

Something I heard about during the workshop at Cyberjaya.

1 Litre of bottled mineral water = **RM1.50 - RM2.00**

1 Litre of unleaded petrol = **RM1.92**

Something is not right isn’t it? Either mineral water is too expensive or petrol is just too cheap.

20062006

Jun 20, 2006 in Philosophy, Events, Fun

I just received a SMS from a friend a moment ago. It appears that today is a … special day. 20th of June 2006 is written as 20062006 in most part of Asia where the format is DDMMYYYY rather than MMDDYYYY in the west. The messege which I got say this only comes once in a lifetime… but after some thought… I think I should be able to live long enough to see 20072007, 20082008, 20092009, 20102010, 20112011 and 20122012.

Handphone to replace cameras, music players, wristwatch, alarm clocks
