Infected by win32/Looked.AQ virus!!! dammit

Sep 26, 2006 in Tips, Mumblings

Even with eTrust ezAntivirus running 24/7 and always updated… I still got infected by a virus. This virus is potentially deadly. It will infect many of ur .exe files, which you will need to delete it. It will also fragment your harddisk like hell by creating a _desktop.ini (desktop.ini is good guy, but _desktop.ini is NOT!) file in EVERY directory. So one of the ways to know if you are infected by this virus is to enable system file view which are hidden by default, so that you won’t accidently delete them.

How to enable system file view? Click on My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->uncheck “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)”. If you see a _desktop.ini file….welcome to the statistic. If you don’t know what you are doing, please check it back… I will not be responsible if you deleted any operating system files. @_@

Tread Macro website does have a solution to remove this virus so search their site. As far as I know, ezAntivirus couldn’t clean the infected files… they can only Quarantine it…
